Description:

Working proactively and closely with the Head Grower, the Assistant Grower supports management and consultants with the focus being on the growing process. The Assistant Grower must operate, control and adapt to an ever-changing environment while following operating policies and procedures, and complete the required reporting, inspections and sampling. Also included are, supporting scouting for pest and disease, assisting with chemical applications and cleanout/crop change plans, assisting Growers in mapping tasks.

We are in search of an Assistant Grower that is willing to relocate to or reside in Dauphin, MB and join our team!

Your duties will include:

Assisting the Head Grower in all aspects of the production process including:

  • Able to work flexible hours and to manage / monitor the greenhouse climate control systems management 24 hours a day on rotation with Head Grower,
  • Responds to events of issues that threaten harvesting, quality as well as the health and safety of the employees,
  • Lifting (able to lift and carry 25kg bags), mixing and applying fertilizer,
  • Operating irrigation systems and technical equipment,
  • Crop maintenance and inspection,
  • Taking water samples,
  • Collecting, recording and measuring plant data,
  • Monitoring plant growth, and
  • Training staff,
  • Assisting others.

To succeed, you possess the following:

  • A diploma in entomology, botany, horticulture, or agriculture is an asset but not essential if in possession of significant related experience.
  • A working knowledge of current computer programs/systems and equipment.
  • Forklift License (or will obtain)
  • Either relevant education and/or experience are required, preferably both. A background in agriculture would be a distinct asset.
  • Other core expectations as defined by the company
