Season's Greetings from the VG Team!

In last month’s blog post, we explained the work we would be undertaking over the winter to get our greenhouse structure completed. Obviously, that work continues, as we are very active with work on site and in our office. As many of us work remotely during COVID, we meet often on Zoom. We thought you’d enjoy seeing a screenshot from our recent staff meeting, as we all felt a little festive!

We sincerely hope that, even during a global pandemic, you will find festivity, wellness, and peace. All our best to all of you for a wonderful Holiday Season and New Year!

We're glad you're visiting our blog, which features regular updates on the progress at Vermillion Growers - our own growth, if you will! 

The billboard pictured above is located where, this time next year, the first phase of our state of the art greenhouse will be nearly complete! Located just off Mountain Road in the north part of the City of Dauphin, Manitoba, our greenhouse will, in early 2021, start producing some of the highest quality vine tomatoes this area has ever seen or tasted! And, with some of our partners, we will be putting those tomatoes from vine to table in 24 hours within Manitoba, Saskatachewan, and Northwest Ontario! 

Construction on our site started at the beginning of September, 2019. Since then, there has been significant progress, even with plenty of rain and some early snow this autumn. Our engineering and construction partners, Horizon Builders, WERI, and Eng-Tech, are keeping everything running smoothly on site. Have a look at some of our progress!

A Solid Foundation

On November 6 and 7, we poured concrete for the onsite warehouse. This sets a solid foundation for the project and plenty of work for our construction teams for the coming months. 

Speaking of a solid foundation - we want to take this time to thank all of our investors. As of today, we have raised around $23 Million to fund the first phase of our build - the first ten acres, and a good portion of that is from investors who not only believe in the project, but also live in the area. Our tagline of, "growing food, growing people, growing community," is so much more than words, but a true reality in the works, supported by community members.
